Ph.D., Bangalore UniversityDr. Priyanka Dwivedi
Ph.D., Bangalore UniversityMy research is rooted in feminist sociology and women’s studies, with a strong commitment to socially relevant, context-sensitive scholarship that bridges theory, policy, and practice. I examine how gendered inequalities are produced and sustained across key social institutions such as work, family, technology, and education and how these structures can be transformed through inclusive governance and evidence-based interventions.
A central focus of my work is on women professionals in the Information technology sector, where I study changing gender contracts, mental load, work–life balance, and organizational cultures in the context of globalization, digitalization, and crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic. My research highlights how flexible work arrangements and digital technologies create new opportunities for women’s participation in the workforce while simultaneously reproducing structural inequalities related to care work, career mobility, and leadership. This body of work directly contributes to policy debates on decent work (SDG 8) and gender equality in employment (SDG 5).
Another major strand of my research examines how higher education institutions align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the pivotal role they play in advancing sustainable and inclusive development. I study how universities can intentionally shape their curricula, teaching–learning practices, research agendas, and governance structures in line with the SDGs to nurture future leaders committed to building a just and sustainable society. This work specifically focuses on SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), highlighting the transformative potential of higher education as a site for social change and policy innovation.
Methodologically, I prioritize rigorous field-based and mixed-methods research, with growing engagement in the responsible use of data, AI, and digital tools.
