My research focuses on applied mathematics and machine learning, with a particular interest in how wavelets can improve deep learning-based image analysis using deep learning. My doctoral research at Vellore Institute of Technology examines wavelet based inductive bias for machine learning driven image analysis, with applications in medical imaging, plant biology, texture classification and image restoration.

My broader research interests include multimodal learning, scientific machine learning, lightweight network design, and image enhancement. More recently, I have extended my work to enhancing hazy images under varied environmental conditions, where wavelet-based designs help models achieve better accuracy and efficiency.

Gowthaman is an Assistant Professor -Teaching in the School of Engineering at Chanakya University. He has submitted his Ph.D. thesis to the Department of Mathematics, School of Advanced Sciences, Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Vellore. His research interests include wavelet integrated machine learning models, image processing and hybrid light-weight models.  He has published research articles in the reputed journals and conferences including IEEE Access, Scientific Reports and Results in Engineering, and a national patent application based on his work has been published. Before joining Chanakya University, he was a Assistant Professor Junior at VIT, Vellore.
