Applications are invited for the position of a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) at Dr. Priyadarshan Kinatukara Lab, School of Biosciences, Chanakya University, Bangalore, supported by Mazumdar Shaw Philanthropy. Prospective candidates will have the opportunity to work in a high-growth research environment focusing on the molecular architecture of life’s “skin” – the cell membrane. This position will initially be for 6 months and may be extended based on performance. High-performing JRFs will be prioritized for PhD enrolment at Chanakya University.
Project Description: Dr. Priyadarshan Kinatukara Lab at the School of Biosciences, Chanakya University is looking for a motivated JRF to integrate Biochemistry, Structural Biology, and Genetic Engineering tools to dissect and compare the regulatory principles governing lipid diversity across Archaeal and Bacterial domains. Prospective candidates will identify, isolate, and characterize proteins regulating lipid biosynthesis. The study will involve work on bioinformatics, protein biophysics, and biochemistry, and studying the impact of gene knockouts/knockdowns of these proteins. The findings will allow tweaking common bacteria such as E. coli for sustainable production of various industrially relevant metabolites.
