Research insights on RNA-based therapeutics by Dr. Prabha Sampath

Date:29-07-2026

SBS, Chanakya University, had the privilege of hosting Dr. Prabha Sampath, Senior Principal Investigator at the Skin Research Institute of Singapore, for an invited seminar on cutting-edge advances in RNA-based therapeutics.

Dr. Sampath delivered an engaging lecture highlighting her pioneering research on the design of microRNAs and the development of RNA interference (RNAi)-based topical formulations for the treatment of chronic diabetic foot ulcers. She discussed how microRNA engineering is opening new avenues for targeted and non-invasive therapeutic interventions in chronic wound management.

The seminar also explored the role of microRNAs in inflammatory disorders, with a particular focus on atopic dermatitis. Dr. Sampath explained how deciphering microRNA dynamics can provide valuable insights into disease mechanisms and facilitate the development of innovative therapeutic strategies.

The session concluded with a lively interactive discussion, during which students and faculty had the opportunity to engage with Dr. Sampath on the broader applications, translational challenges, and future prospects of RNA-based therapeutics in precision medicine. The seminar provided participants with valuable exposure to emerging molecular technologies and their growing impact on biomedical research and clinical therapeutics.
