International Conference. Superbug Summit: Mechanisms, Evolution, and Control of Drug-Resistant Pathogens, 2026
Date:28-03-2026The School of Biosciences (SBS) successfully hosted the International Superbug Summit 2026, a three-day flagship conference focused on antimicrobial resistance (AMR), drug-resistant pathogens, diagnostics, therapeutics, and One Health strategies. The summit brought together leading scientists, clinicians, industry experts, policymakers, and young researchers from premier national and international institutions.
The inaugural session was graced by Guest of Honour Dr. L. S. Shashidhara, Director, NCBS, and Chief Guest Dr. S. Somanath, Chancellor, Chanakya University with Dr. Yashwanth Dongre, Vice-Chancellor, and Prof. H. S. Subramanya, Dean of SBS and Pro Vice-Chancellor, whose addresses highlighted the urgency of combating antimicrobial resistance (AMR) through innovation, interdisciplinary research, and policy-driven action. The event featured plenary lectures, scientific sessions, flash talks, panel discussions, and the inauguration of the AMR Research Society India, creating a vibrant platform for scientific dialogue and translational collaborations.
Key highlights included expert talks on biofilms, phage therapy, AI-enabled AMR diagnostics, tuberculosis, pathogen surveillance, antibiotic discovery, and policy implementation, along with insightful discussions on clinical stewardship and One Health approaches.
The summit concluded with a valedictory session, awards for outstanding poster and flash talk presentations, and a roadmap for future AMR research collaborations.
