Ms Gargi is currently working as a Research Assistant under School of Law, Governance and Public Policy’s Subhas Chandra Bose Chair on International Relations. She is an alumna of Manipal Academy of Higher Education’s Department of Geopolitics and International Relations where she completed her post-graduation. Her research areas are as follows: 

  • Indo-Pacific Geopolitics
  • Religious Terrorism and Extremism
  • India’s National Security
  • Defence and Military Modernization
  • Non-Eurocentric Approach to International Relations’ Theories
  • India’s Foreign Policy and Worldview

Educational Qualifications:

  • Master of Arts in Geopolitics and International Relations
  • Bachelors of Vocational Education in Journalism (Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai)

When she joined in March 2023, she assisted Centre of Indian Knowledge Systems’ for their project, “Political Concepts of Arthashastra, Mahabharata and Ramayana” under Dr. Vinayak Rajat Bhat. 

She is a journalist-turned-geopolitical researcher who started her career by covering travel, lifestyle, food, cinema and eventually moved onto writing news, opinion and research pieces on the intersectional domain of geopolitics, foreign policy, terrorism, national security and world view. Gargi’s MA dissertation was “An Analysis of Ancient Indian Strategic Thought and its Relevance in the 21st Century”; wherein she studied Mahabharata, Kautilya’s Arthashastra and Thiruvalluvar’s Thirukkural in depth. During her MA course, she also presented a paper on “Critical Analysis of Russian Media coverage of Russia-Ukraine Conflict” at the Symposium hosted by Department of Geopolitics and International Relations, MAHE.

At leisure, Gargi finds joy in painting, reading books, watching docu-series, and cooking.
